Trick or treat?

As the father of a 9 and (nearly) 8 year old, I'm made aware hourly that Halloween is approaching. The anticipation of avalanches of personal candy is building steadily in both my kids. Of course, this year we have more to deal with than deciding whether to go with fun or full size candy bars (we always do fun, btw...if it was good enough for me, it's good enough for them...#getoffmylawn). This year we are all weighing the risks of sending the kids out, handing out candy, eating the candy they receive, etc. COVID is going to COVID, after all.
But after a lot of thought, we decided it was okay to let them trick or treat, with some safety measures. Masks of course, and only in our neighborhood this year. The City of Madison (btw, for any new residents, there is no official trick or treat time in Madison...this year or any year) has published a helpful guide to give tips on how to safely manage the festivities this year. We are planning treat bags on our stoop for handing out candy. If you have any cool treat distribution innovations you're using this year, post them on my Facebook page so everyone can see how creative you are!
