When I was a child - like most '70s kids, I'd assume - the arrival of the Christmas catalog was one of the year's highwater marks. I would pounce on it and barely let it out of my site for the next couple of months. Items would be circled (including the ever-elusive rock polisher), pages would be dog-eared, covers would be lost from all the opening and closing. By Christmas Eve, the catalogue would be a shadow of it's former self.
Nowadays, as a firmly middle-aged adult, my anticipation is not for pages of toys, but for native plant catalogues! And the best of the bunch came this week from Wisconsin's own Prairie Nursery. I am an avowed disciple of this business, their plants, and their advice...which is one of the great things about the catalog. It includes short, helpful advice along with product photos. Indespensible if you are interested in creating native and sustainable plant environments in your home landscape.. And now is a great time to start planning your landscape projects for the coming spring and summer, believe it or not!
